Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this summer programme by either providing / finding venues or offering tea. We are lucky to have such a variety of places to paint and enjoy, and we thank those people who are so kindly welcoming us this year. We hold several exhibitions each year so do watch the website for details as this will be an opportunity to view our work.
Additional Notes:
Venue 29 May: Blacksmith's Cottage Nursery, Langmere Rd, Dickleburch, Diss Norfolk IP21 4QA Tel: 01379 741 136: Nursery, wildlife gardens, coffee shop and toilets, also a gallery and shop. Small charge for wildlife garden.
From the A140 turn off at the Dickleburgh roundabout and follow the road into the village. Take the right turn into Harvey Lane. This is almost opposite Chenery Coach Garage (if you pass the church and reach the village shop, you've passed it. Go past the school and village centre. Follow Harvey Lane out of the village for about 2 miles and eventually the nursery will be found on your right.
Venue 5 June: Travel south from Brome Grange along the A140. Take the first RH turning to Thrandeston, then first left. Ignore first house, Home House - the next house along is Home Farm. Drive past house and a board on LH side will indicate the field in which you can park. This is the home of Jen, who kindly sat with her spinning wheel for our art group in January. The house is very old with interesting features and a lovely garden. They own the fields around and have Ryland and Portland sheep & lambs, Kuni-kuni pigs and guinea fowl. Also a horse. There are barns / summer house to shelter in and you are welcome to draw and paint inside, but room is limited. Please remember to close gates and give consideration to the animals. (This would be an opportunity to put into practice all those useful drawing techniques we learnt with Francis's workshop.)
Venue 14 August: The Coach House, Brockdish, has a lovely rambling garden leading to the River Waveney. You can park in the main street. Parking at Tom's house is very limited so please would you park considerately, or better still share cars.
Venue 18 September: Directions from Diss - follow the A143 towards Great Yarmouth, passing Billingford Windmill on your right. Drive a further 1.5ish miles further. There is a small woodland area, a tall hedge and a White house on the left. This is the venue. There should be a Hall Farm Cottages sign at the turning. I will be there to sort out parking.
Directions from Great Yarmouth, Harleston direction - head towards Diss on A143, passing the Brockdish turning on your left. About half mile further on you will see the church on the right. Turn right just after the church.
(Sorry that this is so late, we have had rather a lot of unexpected things to deal with this last week! Sally Procner)
Venue 25 September: Drawing around Eye. Even if you cannot take part in the day's painting, do try to meet up at The Bank in Eye at 3.15pm where you can show any work that you might like to share (OPTIONAL), or just enjoy a nice cuppa, cake and a chat with other EAG members and friends. We would like to make this a general celebration of any work done throughout the summer so feel free to bring along any of your own work and / or let us know which of these venues have been your favourites and you would like repeated next year.
