9TH APRIL 2026 - ACRYLIC SEASCAPES WORKSHOP WITH TOM CRINGLE

I think all the participants thoroughly enjoyed this workshop. Tom is a great communicator, and his demonstration was very useful to us all in how to construct a seascape, including advice on the positioning of the horizon and vanishing point, and the use of a limited palette, with colours used across the image to tie the composition together.  He also regularly came around to each of us with helpful advice, before circling back to the next stage of his painting. His own subject was a view of the beach at Southwold, looking back towards the town, and some of the views chosen by members were also from nearby beaches.  

Here is Tom's painting, as finished as it was by the end of the session.  He will share the completed painting when it is done.  The second and third pictures show close ups of the sea and the sky, so you can see how the paint has been laid on the canvas.

At the end of the day, as usual, there was an opportunity to see everyone's work and to discuss the way we had each tackled our subjects, and more advice from Tom on how to continue and complete our work.
So first, below, here are paintings from Ian C., Lesley, Avril, and Jo N.  Lesley's is the most remote here, as it is a view from Angelsey looking back to Snowdonia.

Next, Barry, Maggie-Anne and Sally P.  Sally's was the most threatening sky of the day.

Finally, Harriet, with her sunset Welsh view, Sandra, who added pastel to the foreground of hers, Judith and me [Hannah].

An update of my life for EAG.
I still contribute drawings to the Blog. I am basically housebound but only due to ageing.
My husband Roy had a new knee in the New Year. The whole procedure was difficult and painful. He was given a 4 month recovery time.
I enjoy seeing the weekly EAG Blog to keep a little bit in touch.

If you are planning to take part in the exhibition at The Bank in June, your application AND FEE must be in by next week.  The deadline has already been extended, it will not be extended any further!
