A wonderful day was had at Beautiful Botesdale with its picturesque houses and the sunshine made everything enchanting. 9 members met up at various times to enjoy the day, here are the morning crew all set to go. photographs taken of scenes Members chatting and down to work Judith left early but gave me her sketch of the high street Sally P's pen and ink drawings of the church and cafe Lesley's lovely watercolour paintings Ian C made four pencil sketches as it was too hot for his oils Ian painted two house pictures and we all thought the colour of the first one was spot on and Josie was on a roll today and made dramatic colour pen and ink ones and the foxgloves looked impressionistic Sally T said. Here are my drawings for today. It is always good to draw buildings rather than landscapes. It makes you look at the shapes. Harriet said. Botesdale/ Rickinghall looked very nice today - didn't it! Here are my sketches The first and second sketches are the final developments of my printings from last week. The second is a sketch done on a cycle ride around part of the lovely Golfe du Morbihan in Brittany. An amazing area of sea with pretty islands. from Frances Here is Diana’s contribution for this week. Maggie -Anne did a poppy pic this morning - from the gorgeous poppies in the field outside our gate Carolyn liked the photo from Felixstowe so she did a quick sketch in watercolour and ink. The first picture is watercolour and crayon and the others are from my iPad programme, Avril please note that Sally L is doing the blog next week

The first day of the summer programme that merits the name! Six members made the journey to Bury today, and thoroughly enjoyed the sunshine (Judith is missing from the photo below as she had to leave early). Although Sally T is rather obscured by the rope, it was felt that the smiling faces in this magnificent photo reflected the feelings of all. Diana has sent two pieces this week and a photo. She says, 'I’m using water soluble oils this week, the colour seems cleaner than the alkyds.' The final contribution from someone who was not out and about in Bury is from Frances. She is in Brittany at the moment and says, ' I am playing around with leaf prints using an old press we found in an antique/ junk shop here which Nick has renovated for me. I don’t have my printing inks and have been using acrylics. Third image unfinished organisation! Fourth a quick sketch done at Kingston Lacy on Sunday.' So now to the members who DID get to Bury today. First Ian C, who has been very busy! Thanks also for two of the scene-setting photos above. And here are Sally P's sketches - someone else who had a busy day...
Our annual summer exhibition is up and ready to go! The new sail banner is really eye-catching, and the yellow colour matches the guild banner and the church railings, what a clever feat of co-ordination. Lets hope it draws people in. It looks just as good inside too, with a good cross section of work showing Eye Arts Guild at it's best. There were a few last minute decisions to be made. which needed to be carefully considered over coffee... Meanwhile Jackie found a lovely spot on Fair Green for some sketching. A pencil sketch looking up the High street from Durantts, and a stunning view of the circus on Fair Green with that bold red stripe. A perfect composition. Sally P found time for this lively sketch of Diss Mere and Avril managed to steward and complete four sketches at the same time! - i think she must be 'ambi-sketchtrous' Carolyn has sent in this delicate coloured pencil drawing of some self-seeded poppies in her garden, which she says she doesn't really like, and I tend to agree with her and usually pull mine up, but her drawings have made me reconsider. And finally...I have been attempting to get my garden into some sort of order for Beccles Open Gardens on Saturday. I had the bright idea of turning my conservatory into a temporary gallery, You never know... Hannah is in charge next week, so please send your blog contributions to her.
Sally First of all an apology for the lateness of the blog this week. I (Hannah) was laid low by a mystery lurgy, couldn't even raise my head, let alone type, for two days. Avril and Sally L are both away. I am completely OK now. Thanks you for those of you who sent me pictures and words, especially Lesley, who provided the written 'sketch' of the day's outing: 'A good turnout considering the distance. Nine of us and we lasted all day! 'Sunny in the morning becoming cloudier and spots of rain by 2.30. A cold wind (again) but it was fine if one found shelter. 'FF as charming as ever, but boats don’t get any easier to draw!' Diana wasn't able to go to Felixstowe, and has sent a memory of it from 2011, along with her paintings of poppies from her garden. Ian C's contribution consists of an unfinished oil and two sketches. Here is Frances' work... She says, ' My four A5 sketches. Thought I’d be neat with the close up of the floats!' Here are Lesley's sketches from the day... And finally from Jackie, 'The porch study is a finished painting from last week. The other three are today at Felixstowe. A sketch; attempt at painting storm clouds and watercolour of estuary mouth view.' Once again, apologies for lateness. Hope to see most of you next Thursday in Diss, when the exhibition will be hung. Let's hope for lots of sales and pleanty of compliments! Not sure who is doing the blog next week, send work to me if you like and I will forward it on.
