Hemingstone old hall - 18th July 2024

We were made very welcome by Eleanor as Sarah was away in Spain so unable to be with us. 9 of us showed up today to enjoy the sunshine, tea, cakes and 4 of us  a splash around in the pool.
Lovely views and members setting out for a fun morning in the sun.
In order of showing first two are Sally P's  of the barn, then Ian's acrylic painting done by the pool and then Avril's watercolour, soluble pastel and ink
The first two are Jackie's watercolours, the flowers are incomplete due to the lack of time and the last two are Josies which are very vibrant as usual.
Four beautiful renditions of the barn done by Sally T and Judith

Harriet's panaramic view of her suroundings
Sally L said: It’s plants week this week. The first, Geranium picture was much improved by turning a photograph into a tonal image
Lesley sent this: I hope you’re having a a lovely time at Sarah’s. Brilliant weather for a swim!
I’m at my CQIceni meeting.

These two pen sketches I did at Sibton on Sunday. Both are looking across the valley of the River Yox, from the ruins of Sibton Abbey.

Carolyn sent her wonderful pencil painting: Roy took me for a tour of the garden and I got some lovely photos of flowers to use. Attached is one with Hydrangeas and Achilleas. I had to stop myself from fiddling more, as this does not improve but rather to worsen it.
Have a good day. Nice weather forecast

This week Hannah has mostly been deconstructing:  I had an oil painting I wasn't that keen on and instead of simply sanding it down and painting it white for re-use, I attacked it rather more, with scrapers and brush cleaner.  Then I painted over the original colours and then wiped off what I had done.  I am much more pleased with the result, which looks kind of broken-down, but in an interesting way.

Frances was well annoyed that she mixed up dates and couldn’t go to the lovely venue today AND take advantage of the swimming pool!!!

In the meantime... a painting in the making and two more butterflies and ferns- can’t stop doing them😊
Harriet took two pictures of the artists discussing perspective, method of working  etc.
What a beautiful day we've had. With thanks to Sally P for the photos

Please note Sally L is doing the blog next week.

Message from Lesley:
Next week we are at Knettishall Heath. Let’s hope the weather holds as  apart from the heath and woodland, there will be
an opportunity for more swimming,  this time wild swimming in the Little Ouse.
I will be posting more information about the site, including about car parking, before next Thursday, look for it in the members’ section of the EAG website.
