old Hall Farm Southwold

A beautiful day at Old Hall Farm Southwold, but a strong wind made painting conditions difficult, but eight of us were up for the challenge, so after a quick coffee we were off!
​clutching, paper, brushes, hats and each other!

The landscape at Old Hall Farm was stunning, there were drifts of wild flowers which lent a welcome splash of colour, and the Blythe estuary was glittering in the sun.

You can see that none of us were foolish enough to attempt to use an easel, and one of us managed a quick 'fag' too!

We had all produced several pieces of work by tea time.
Lesley had drawn two sketches, and painted two watercolours a view up towards the barn, and the view across the estuary.

Ian's watercolour view across the estuary, and sketch of the buildings towards St Felix school.

Sally's two pictures, a sketch of the foliage on either side of a grassy path, and a lively pastel, giving an feeling of the windy conditions, and the lovely Mallow flowers..

Jackie's interpretation of the grassy path leading to the estuary, and a useful addition to any landscape, Jo, Ian and Sally! 

Jo gives a real feeling of the windy conditions in this view over the estuary, and another quieter interpretation

and Sally Tyley has sent three sketches two of the view towards southwold, and the river embankment.

And here are my efforts from today

in complete contrast Diana has been engrossed in the Tour De France, and has managed to capture in oil pastels that strange wiggling motion of the massed cyclists.

And Frances has sent us a '''postcard' from France, a sketch of the banks of the Loire, the second from a picnic spot at Chalonnes Sur Loire, and finally a romanesque portal at Bourges cathedral

Carolyn has sent this lovely sketchof a rose, i always think a very difficult flower to draw. 

and from Hannah a beautiful bright oil painting, based on a small section of a bigger painting- 'The Road Again'
