Joan henriques

When I lived in Canada, I taught art as a self-taught elementary school art teacher. I've always enjoyed drawing and painting, especially using colour, and although I trained as a teacher, I've not had any formal art lessons. Except once: a few years ago I did an online course in using pastels. It was the first drawing and painting I'd done in many years. It was wonderful and the teacher was inspirational. I soon bought some acrylics, watercolours, oil paints and canvases and started painting and drawing for fun, most afternoons after I retired. I've never really exhibited, except with the Eye Arts Guiild (and on Facebook!) but nonetheless managed to sell one acrylic of a friend's cat.  While still in the UK, I was doodling on my Kindle and painting with Guild members.

February 2019:  Joan has written to us from her home in Canada and attached a few of her more recent paintings, shown below (the first five).  The mushrooms were painted on a wooden roundel found in the woods, with lichen glued on it.  A lot of deer live in and around her property, hence the little fawn in Tranquility.
