Angela Hall

I have always loved the land and I draw and paint as an emotional response to place. Different aspects inspire me and after sketching and making some studies I choose the medium, colours, scale and composition. The initial choices often change as the painting develops and it takes on a life of its own.
I started painting in watercolour and inks, using them in life drawing as well, then moved to acrylics and oil. Each medium has its own qualities.
Trees and pathways often appear in my work, symbols maybe! I love trees and the spaces between them offer paths through. It is all about the light and where it leads the eye around the painting bouncing from one colour or shade to another.
