Thursday 22.10.15 session with Sally 

Sally T provided us with some stimulating information about early Spanish still life, together with an appropriate array of still life subjects.  We were told that towards the end of the 16th century artists from different parts of Europe began painting still lifes as an independent subject in its own right.  Still life details had long been included in figurative paintings but this was the first time it began to be looked at separately.  This new type of painting emerged at the same time in Italy, Flanders and Spain around the 1590's.

Sally also sat as our model for the portrait studies.  A few images of work in progress below:
