I have been interested in art and textiles since I was a child, but during a long career teaching I had little time to devote to it beyond taking pottery classes at Suffolk College.
On retiring I joined the Eye Arts Guild, and began attending art classes and workshops to get back in touch with my creative side. This was initially through painting, drawing and printmaking, but I also love textile art. Having completed a City and Guilds Diploma in Machine Embroidery, I am now marrying traditional paint and print with stitch. I enjoy exploring different techniques. Unsurprisingly, as a former geographer, much of my work relates to a love of landscape, the natural world, travel and history. The two photos below were taken at the Chain Reaction Exhibition at Snape Maltings, September 2015
