PRINTING WORKSHOP WITH LESLEY Our multi-talented Lesley works in a range of mediums, using paint, textiles, or printing materials. Today she ran a workshop to guide members on some techniques of printing - and the room was buzzing with activity. In one of the photos below, spot the embellishments on someone's clothing!

You may like to know that the following paintings have been sold so far:
Low Tide at Aldeburgh Slipway, by John Blake - £99 Sunset in the Thurne, by John Blake - £80 Aldeburgh (oil), by Ian Cotgrove - £50 Pissarro (copy), by Ian Cotgrove - £20 Cherchez la Femme, by Sally Procner - £125 Jim is a watercolour artist of the old school - using just pencil, paper, brushes and watercolour paints. A thought that one might use the edge of a credit card for rigging and masts was dismissed out of hand! Jim’s first demonstration was a seascape with sailing barge. The way he flooded the whole sheet of paper with water, then applied strong, single colours was a bit alarming, but leaving it to dry then painting wet-on-dry for the boat and details produced a stunning picture. The second demo of a church and cottages followed a similar pattern, except that the area where the walls of the cottages were to be was left untouched until the second stage.
It was an enjoyable day as we tried to emulate Jim’s style and produce a number of paintings - not all finished of course in the time available. Jackie presented us with a great display for her still life. It was spectacular the way she combined beautiful colours with so many wonderful shapes and textures. She also cleverly used empty photo frames to highlight some parts of the arrangement. |
