We were very well served by two Sallys today, each offering the opposite of what they did two weeks ago.  Sally L’s. still life setups each had two sides, with different colours and textures in each, giving everyone an interesting view.  Sally P. followed Sally L’s. holiday theme from two weeks ago, but offered one long pose, the holiday maker now ensconced in a deck chair, with a nice cup of tea to hand!
The two set ups give everyone a closer view, and there is the opportunity for lots of variety.
Next week is the portraits workshop, with numbers limited to those who have signed up.  Jackie has arranged for those who are not participating to go to The Bank (if they would like to), to be able to have a morning of drawing and painting there.  If you would like to know more, contact her.
We were also told that the first sale was made of the insect paintings within 24 hours of hanging!

Quite a challenge to follow Noreen’s impeccable photography and blog – hope I haven’t let her down!

A last minute swap meant that Jackie provided the two excellent still life arrangements, as well as a very well-dressed and patient model.  We had a good showing of people, with the space being used successfully after some tweaking of tables and chairs.  Everyone seemed to be tackling their subjects with enthusiasm.
Next week we will have the two Sallys back doing the honours.
The bug pictures are looking splendid, now they are all framed identically in black.  There was a lot of activity going on behind the scenes to get them strung and parcelled up ready to take to Earsham for exhibition.
By the way, the list for November's portrait workshop is now full.
As I will not be able to attend next week, Hannah has kindly agreed to do the Blog.

We started off our winter activities with a good show of people.  Sally P gave us two splendid still life set-ups.  They were autumn-themed, with an excellent array of objects, which could be drawn/painted en masse or selected individually.  She obviously went to town on these.  Sally L chose the airport as her theme and presented us with many imaginative poses - drawn from her observations when last waiting herself at an airport.  She really kept us on our toes with her five-minute poses. (I'm sorry, Sally, I didn't manage to capture more of these for the Blog.)  After the coffee break we enjoyed one long pose.
The two Sallys paired up to share the load, so next week the roles will be reversed.
Below are just some examples of our work.
The new arrangement of tables with two still-life set-ups, chairs and easels seemed to work quite well, but please let us have your comments or suggestions.

What a super outdoor summer programme we’ve had!  Still, it’s nice to get back into the Bowls Club and anticipate our coming indoor activities.  We started today with the AGM.  Our Chairman, Sally Tyley, gave her annual report, which will be published soon on the website.  We welcomed some new members to the committee:  Ian, who will replace Sally P as Treasurer, Hannah, who will be assisting Noreen on the web-site, and Harriet.
A new arrangement of the tables is proposed, starting next week.  There will be two set-ups of still life so that people will be nearer to the subjects, and the model will be in the corner near the bar with two rows of painters - the first row for those seated and the back row for those with easels.  It was also suggested that members down for presenting the model and still life might pair up with each other, so that one would be responsible for the still life only one week and the other for the model - and vice versa the other week.
Also today 27 members delivered their canvases with Insects on Leaves for our group project.  Such a colourful collection and so many different styles and approaches to the challenge (see below).  Great work!  It was decided unanimously to have these individually framed, at a modest cost to each member (payable next week) and then delivered by the committee to the Earsham Wetland and Wildlife Centre, Bungay, where they will be put on display in the café or elsewhere.  This centre is a thriving and admirable new venture and we are pleased to be associated with it.
As The Bank Arts Centre is still in some disarray and working on plans for the future, further EAG exhibitions there are on hold.  Don’t forget next week to bring two framed pictures to replace those in the Eye Medical Centre - one of which could be the “Pots”, just returned to us from last year’s group project.
