And another one from Sally L (hasn't she been busy!), who says:

"I was really tempted to leave this for a few days, to ‘think about it’ but as the currant flowers were fading I had to keep going, no excuses! (Note the subtle hint of Opera Pink.)
It’s been a really good discipline to spend the best part of three days painting, and great to be able to see what the rest of the group are up to.

Last week, Sally L showed us a selection of unfinished paintings and vowed to finish them.  Good as her word, here is number 1 - before and after.  (She just has to keep going now!)

And a window-sill pencil sketch from Jackie.  The photo was rather small, so it is not very clear.  I will replace it if J can send me a larger one.

Great to see all your excellent work and ideas below.
Don't forget there is the Comments button for you to add any thoughts you may like to share.
I hope members are happy to have had their names attached to their pictures.  If anyone prefers not, please let me know, but we'd still like to see your work.

Like Diana, I hope you are all coping well in these strange times.
Keep your pictures coming.  If you'd like a theme for next week, Sally has suggested:  Signs of Spring*.  But it's up to you and we are very happy to see your work whatever the subject.

PS Note amendment above * Something Fruity for another week!

This composition is from Sally L and called "Waiting in the Wings".
She says:  "These lovelies have been hanging about for some time, so I’m going to attempt to finish them off one way or another !"
Good luck with that, Sally, and we look forward to seeing them.

As always, click to enlarge images.

Note that there was one late addition to Thursday's entries, from Lesley.  See below.

Thursday 19th March, Social Distancing

19/3/2020

In the near 40-year history of the Eye Arts Guild, I believe that the cancellation of a Thursday meeting has been very rare - I can only remember one previous occasion, due to bad weather.  Now a tiny virus has mutated in China, hitched a ride on human beings across the globe and in a few short weeks shown how we are all connected.  And not in a good way!  However, on the positive side, perhaps it will provide us with some space to pursue activities we often don’t have enough time for, especially drawing and painting.
Please send me photos of work you are doing/yourselves to add to this blog.  I will be updating it during the course of today.  Keep painting!  Keep in touch!

Lovely to see so much work coming in!  Please keep them flowing - I'm not going anywhere today!

PS  A late addition from Lesley, who was tied up on Thursday and says:  "This is a quick  10 minute pencil sketch  drawn through the windscreen, when I was waiting for Dick at the end of the day. Serried ranks of yachts in their cradles, some with their tenders tucked underneath."

I am still hoping for one more picture, from Sally T (technical problems!)

Thursday 12th March, with Harriet

In spite of the Media’s efforts to send us into paroxysms of anxiety about the new virus, we had a full house at this morning’s session. 👍 Your committee has been discussing our forthcoming programmes whilst having to take into account possible interruptions as the epidemic spreads.  We will keep you informed
Harriet provided a wealth of objects for the still life, many in white against a white backcloth;  as we all know, painting ‘white’ tests the best of us, especially in watercolour.  There were some coloured items too and a few people brought their own set-up, all resulting in some very good work.  As always, some pieces are unfinished and others may be a study for a future painting.

Harriet was an excellent model, sitting twice for about 45 minutes each, inspiring again some very good results.

Next week, our programme asks members to “bring your favourite object”.  The idea is that we each bring something and these items are put together to form a still-life set-up, or set-ups.
Please note that the Pen and Ink Workshop for 2nd April cannot now take place on that date and you will get further information about this in due course.  Also the May 7 Coach trip is being postponed, possibly until Autumn.

PS  Meanwhile, would anyone who has had any contact with someone suspected of maybe having Covid 19 virus and is self-isolating, please contact Sally P to let her know, so that she can inform members.

PPS  (Friday) Models have now been arranged for 19th March and 2nd April.

5th March, with Jackie

Another good turnout this morning, but still no Noreen.  She says she is feeling alright, but her cough has still not quite cleared up.  A good idea to stay safe at home and away from picking up something else, before you are completely well.
Jackie provided us with very contrasting still lives.  On one side, interior, and the other, garden produce and tools.  Both with lots of interest.  Some of us were very torn in making our decision on what to do.  As a  model, lots of very good likenesses of Jackie emerged, as you can see below.

Don't forget to fill in your membership form and return it, with your fee, to Harriet.  And there's also the coach trip - May 7th - to Cambridge.  You should have received an email with all the details, and a form to complete.
