Our Preview party took place between 6 and 8pm in the Gallery at Blacksmith's Cottage Nursery, Dickleburgh.  Many members and their guests were there to admire the splendid display of pictures.  Well done everybody - organisers, hangers and painters!  We also enjoyed a glass of wine and a grand assortment of refreshments.

Nine members gathered in Thorndon today.  It was a will-it-won't-it day, but the showers did not amount to much and we were all able to sketch or paint en plein air.  Some enjoyed Hannah's beautiful garden, while others ventured outside to the church or the fields, as you can see below.  A further member did her own thing in Stradbroke, of course missing the delightful tea and cake provided by Hannah in her conservatory.

thursday 20th July, hoxne

Battling some challenging weather conditions, 18 members gathered for a day (or part-day) at Hoxne - a record number for this summer so far.  Jackie hosted the day, with coffee at her lovely cottage first thing and tea and cakes to close the day.  She arranged  access for us at The Swan and Abbey Farm, and there are many other attractive painting opportunities in and around the famed village of Hoxne.  Abbey Farm is a superb building, Grade II* listed, parts dating back to the mid-16th century.  It is on the site of a former ancient Benedictine Priory.
Despite adverse weather, the following efforts were produced and available to view at tea-time.

It was all switched on today at Thorpeness:  warmth, sunshine, colourful boats, swans and geese in droves, plenty of places to sit and admire the views, sketch or paint, or to enjoy a selection of comestibles.  We beavered away at sketches, paintings, or exercises, as represented below.  There were 14 of us, all seemingly enjoying a great day.

Philip Greenacre from Furze Gardens has very kindly sent us these photos, which he took of us in painting (or tea) mode during our visit.  (Click on photo to enlarge.)
He also mentioned finding a lens cap from someone's Olympus camera.  If yours is missing, get in touch.

thursday 6th July, thornham walks

It was a "stroll and sketch" day, but with the sudden and very heavy downpours we mostly stayed close to some form of shelter, starting at the Forge Café for coffee, moving to the Walled Garden with its greenhouses and finishing at the Coach House café for tea.  We were ten altogether.  I am always amazed at the variety of subjects, media and techniques chosen to produce so many interesting images, a number of which will no doubt be worked on further at home.  Photos below - click to enlarge.
Joan Henriques, who went to Canada, has sent her best wishes to all Eye Arts Guild members via John, together with some of her lovely recent artwork.  This is also shown below.
