22ND FEBRUARY 2024 - WITH JUDITH

22/2/2024

Sorry not to have made it to Eye myself this morning, the weather warnings were somewhat alarming.  I am very lucky to have Avril as my co-blogger, as she has sent not only the photos from the morning, but also a round up of some of the comments from the end of the morning showing.  So first of all, the scene setting for both still life and portraits (thanks to Judith for both this morning).
Before we progress to the work produced this morning, Jackie sent something in last week that didn't  get seen - a rather wonderful watercolour portrait.  I don't think it requires too many guesses as to who it is?
Picture
Carolyn sent an older painting this morning, of Roy's collection of ties, together with a sketch of miniature daffodils outside a pub.  She does have a good eye for an interesting subject that might otherwise get passed by...
So, first from his morning from Angela -not the still life or the portraits, but an oil painting she has been working on.  The consensus was that the water was particularly strongly depicted.

The first  four of these portraits are John's work. The next four are  Elizabeth's distinctive drawings (she said she liked to draw feet).
The next group includes the very prolific Avril (7 drawings!), who also produced the 'group' that is a sketch of Judith's moving pose.  And giving her a run for her money, Ian J., with another four.  Finally, two pencil sketches from Frances, followed by a pen drawing from Sally T.
Sally also sketched some bottles from the still life.

And Frances sent three finished butterflies (the third was on a little piece of her Chairman's project), all made into cards.
Next Sally P's loose still life and snowdrops copied onto watercolour paper and painted with white and green watercolour paint.
These are Jill and Harriet's interpretations of the still life.
And now Lesley's studies of the snowdrops, using comments from the recent workshop to make the shading in the white.  The one on the right was thought to look botanical.

Josie's quick and flowing ink work, using different sizes of new pens.
Next, still life from Maggie-Anne, the pear making good use of reflections...

And a colourful still life from Liz

Diana has asked that we pass on her thanks to everyone for their kind thoughts following the death of her husband.
There will shortly be some details on Stop Press for the workshop Lesley and Avril are doing on 7th March, what to bring and so on, so make sure you check there.  I have added some info on Messages from Members today that might be of interest, about  the Stradbroke Annual Exhibition, and a film show at the Bank.
Thanks again to Avril for her sterling contribution this week to the success of the blog.  Next week you will get my still life and me as a model, as I have swapped my turn with Ian J (and Josie), who will now do 14th March.   Got to get my thinking cap on!  Have a good week.
