26th January 2023 - with Jackie

I am sorry you are stuck with me again this week [Hannah], as Noreen is under the weather. I am sure we all wish her a speedy recovery!
Great still life this week courtesy of Jackie, with plenty for even the late-comer [me] to choose from.  contrast of colour and texture to tax our skills, and a trug with leeks that had at least three members tied in knots...
First, Diana, with the stages of her watercolour, and the part of the still life she used...
She said, 'Tulips, glass, distortion, stripes, what more could you want, very enjoyable.'

Here is the first of those trugs - this one from Carolyn, and despite what she said, I think she's got it!
Liz was at another point in the still life, and didn't finish before the end of the morning.  She also sent the version with the more unfinished area cropped out, which also works.
Sally L has sent both the Sharpie sketch she made this morning, and a French restaurant scene.  She said, 'A French restaurant scene which I’ll probably do another version of, as this one is full of trial and errors, working out the problems as I go. I wish I was still there!'

A second trug, this one from June, who used ink in a particularly effective way in this painting.
Here are the first of the portraits of Jackie, these are from Jane.
Avril tackled both the still life and the model.  Here is her work from this morning.
Ian continued work on the Northumberland landcape that he started on holiday; you can see his progress here...

From Frances, two works: First A3 size, tissue paper then charcoal and felt tip plus crayon and wash.
Second, A5 , Conté pencils.

Here is Lesley's corner of the still life, in watercolour and pen on mixed media paper. Yes, it's that trug again!
Sally T's two sketches of Jackie.  She is happier with the first than the second.
Something a bit different from Sally P this week.  She has been working on her iPad on the abstract composition she started last week with Frances.  This way she has been able to experiment with the colours and save different versions.  There will be a session in April where we will look at art apps and how to use them for anyone who is interested.  More details nearer the time...
The second is 'messing around with watercolor pencils for the last half hour of the morning.'
Lastly, my still life, satsumas and shallots, in pencil on grey paper.
Next week Jill will provide the still life and model.
Don't forget the Chairman's Project 'Elements'
needs to be ready for April, and, if you have signed up for the next workshop, 'Acrylic Seascapes  with Denise Allen', and you haven't yet paid, you need to do so next week at the latest.
Have a good week.
