christmas party 8.12.16

Our party organisers always do us proud and this year was no exception.
To start us off, Diana set us some challenging quizzes posted around the room.  The answers were interesting - and some members actually knew them!

Sally P then showed us the results of the traditional composite picture, made up of 20 elements each painted by a different member, and asked us to guess the title and painter when only half completed.  It was “Murnau Dorfstrasse“ (Murnau, a Village Street) by Wassily Kandinsky.  Of course I knew that ….. !!!

Our next challenge was for each table to produce a masterpiece in which we all drew one element of a picture, in a certain style, which had to include such things as a person, an animal, something cold, etc..  A mixed bag here.

The highlight of the morning was of course the panto, thanks to Les and Company.

Here is Father Christmas with Adrian, our guest musical director (and performer).

We soon learn from Big Elf that besides Father Christmas, Mrs Christmas and all the elves, we are to have an EU delegation whom we are going to teach a thing or two.  Of course!
(
Though this seems to turn out later to be more of a dating agency. …..?)

An appearance by ‘the Queen’ and ‘Prince Philip’ honours the party (Les, The Queen is not amused).

The story concludes with the wedding of Snow White and Big Elf,
Meanwhile, Snowman pinches the party cake, and is chased in slow motion by Rudolph and the Christmases. (Richard, HE'S BEHIND YOU!)
Snow White pleads for Snowman to be forgiven - an instance of justice and compassion to impress our EU delegates.

The bar is open and delicious food spread out for our delectation.

What a great party. Lots of fun, relaxed atmosphere, good food and drink in the company of a great crowd of people. A great way to start off the festive season 😃 And thank you Noreen for getting it put on the website so quickly. Love your write up. Always entertaining 👍
