A day in the pub was probably not what people had in mind when choosing Laxfield for today's painting location. However, after starting the day with coffee in the Royal Oak, and looking at the drizzly, windy weather outside, some decided to stay inside, as evidenced by the sketches of some local characters below. They obviously liked it there as they stayed for lunch. Others ventured outside or into the neighbouring church and joined the rest for tea in the coziness of the pub.
