First, Sally P tells me that five of our members met up this morning. They started the day with a cup of coffee and chat. Avril went off to start sketching, while Anne and Kevin went in another direction, and she and Harriet decided to walk around before putting pen to paper! She adds, "I've never walked around the site before; lots to watch and very relaxing." Nice, but what about some artwork, Sally?!? "A meagre offering from me today! Some sketches of swans, geese and ducks. My landscape was not worthy of being photographed!" A likely story, but anyway, here are some of her bird studies as well as some beautiful photos of the real landscape. |
I’m sorry I was unable to make it to the Session today, but here is my rendering in acrylics of the scene on the occasion of our earlier visit. Meanwhile, I have been working on a pastel painting of the scene at Saxtead Green - without the satisfying result I was anticipating! I may give up pastels in future, or just concentrate on the pencils. |
This watercolour painting of pebbles by Carolyn is based on a jigsaw puzzle she recently completed (see photo). She has used cling film, salt, and splatter to get the effects. Wax resist was tried too but did not work so well. She has achieved some interesting textures for the stones and a lovely selection of colours. The Inktense study of Duke, a neighbour’s dog, is from a photo taken by Roy. |
I hear again from Sally P that 7 members stayed all day and enjoyed a cuppa in the upstairs seating area of the café watching the birds outside on the feeder and ... "believe it or not, talking Art!!!" So busy that no-one thought about taking a group photo for the blog. Never mind, here are a few more of my photos from '19 including Sally herself, Harriet and June. | Enjoy your week with happy painting. Next week's meeting is at Mendlesham Green, garden of Judith Howard Lees. See programme for further details and send your emails to Hannah. Cheers, Noreen. |
