There were fewer of us than usual this morning, with absences including Noreen, who is unwell.  You therefore have to put up with me, Hannah, as a substitute.  Get well soon, Noreen!
Sally had already signalled in her message on the 'Messages from Members' page, that her morning would have the theme of 'Realism', with reference to Lucian Freud (for those who were going to draw the model) and Gustave Courbet for the still life.  She talked to us briefly at the beginning of the session about the two artists, and reminded us that observation is key.
The still life was set up as several separate groups of fruit, flowers and objects, so that everyone was within close distance of what they had chosen to draw or paint, facilitating that realism.
Sally herself was a very good model, and unusually I attempted both subjects, still life and model, this morning.
Hopefully, Noreen will be out and about again next week, to join us,along with anyone who was unable to come this week, or put off by the weather, or roadworks!

The amazing leek was brought in by Diana, and she and June have certainly done it justice! (see below)

Don't forget to check the 'Messages from Members' page for details of Sally Ladbrooke's session next week.  It sounds like it will be very colourful!

Thanks, Hannah. Great job as usual, and interesting artwork. Nearly better so look forward to seeing you all next week.
