Today was all about getting textures in watercolour. Once you have a bit of gum arabic and some granulating medium, you are well away! Apart that is from a bit of skill in judging how wet your paper is, how wet your brush, how much pigment on the brush, the angle of your paper ... and your brush ... and how quickly you work. Except that gum arabic is supposed to slow the processes down and help you to relax! Er ... yes.
I make light, but in fact it was a very interesting and absorbing day. We have Gilly to thank for her great demonstrations and clear explanations, as well as for her personal guidance and critique at the end. All these techniques do help us to understand and use our medium better. Just keep practising!
